How the count works

“Within 10 business days after” a date means the count starts the next day. The first business day after the start date is day 1, and the result is the last day to act.

Saturdays, Sundays and the public holidays of the state you choose are not counted. Where a holiday falls on a weekend and the state gives a substitute or additional day, the weekday is not counted either. Regional holidays, such as the Brisbane Ekka show day, are left in unless you tick them.

Some days are doubtful: a part-day holiday such as Christmas Eve from 6pm or 7pm, or a holiday that has not yet been proclaimed. These are counted as business days and marked, so the result is the earlier, safer date.

Ticking the security of payment option also takes out the Christmas period that your state’s Act excludes from “business day”. Use it for payment claims, payment schedules and adjudication.
